The last few days have been packed with events in which the Invicta community have come together with a wonderful team work spirit. Young Chamber kick-started the weekend with Invicta Fest where all students, staff and parents enjoyed live music in the glorious Autumn sunshine. A large quantity of burgers and ice cream was also consumed - all to raise money for SUDEP, Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy. The four hours of fun for the whole school community was made possible by six months of thorough planning by our Young Chamber students, led by Miss Pope and Mrs Bennett. Not only did they book the bands, arranged the food suppliers and set up the outdoor stage, they also collected the last pieces of litter on the field after everyone had headed home! We are looking forward to finding out the amount of money raised.
Less than 24 hours later, Invicta FIGS Autumn Fair took place on the school grounds - again bringing the whole school community together with musical and dance performances, fun filled activities and plenty of burgers and cakes! We are extremely grateful to FIGS, Friends of Invicta Grammar School – the school PTA, Mr Masters, Mrs Stafford, Mr Heaton and Miss Gulvin for their efficient planning and the efforts in making the Fair the best one yet!
I came away from the Fair with my heart filled with the joy of seeing our students, staff and parents having a good time together. Those bright smiles and laughter are what are trying to achieve ultimately at Invicta. I would like to see our students leaving Invicta at the end of Year 13 ready to take on the world with a big smile. I do hope they will remember those experiences when they had the opportunity to work with one another and gained a sum total larger than what each of them would have achieved if worked in isolation.
I look forward to the first POP - Personal Opportunities Programme - this Wednesday afternoon when more opportunities will be seized by our students from across the year groups as they learned, enriched themselves and achieved together.
