What a year to reflect on
We have made it to the last week of school in 2020! What a year to reflect on. It has been filled with unprecedented challenges but also so much to be grateful for. In this blog, I would love to focus on the positives, along with all the achievements we should be so proud of!
As Mrs Derrick updates and reminds us every week, we have done a great job in adapting to the new way of COVID school. Our use of the one-way system, keeping rooms well ventilated and, of course, wearing face masks has meant as a whole, we have kept the positive COVID cases to a minimum.
Year 13 and 11 have also completed their mock examinations and received feedback regarding these. I am sure many of you will be very proud of your results. However, if you did not achieve the grades you wanted, this can still be seen as a positive! These mocks have shown where there are potential gaps in your knowledge. Use the next few weeks to analyse your performance and identify what topics you need to focus revision on next time. This way you will not make the same mistakes again. As for Year 9, 10 and 12, January is coming around quickly and so are your examinations, so work hard over the Christmas; but don’t forget to have regular breaks and spend lots of time with your family!
At Invicta, we pride ourselves on raising money for charities and giving back to the community. This year has been no different, even during the pandemic we have managed to raise £2000 this term alone for Macmillan through a non-uniform day. We can also look forward to RAG week - my favourite week of the academic year! Once again, we are raising money for 5 wonderful charities: Oasis, Square Pegs, More Than Words and Therapy Partners. We have events such as Bake Off, Glow Up and, of course, the return of Stars in Their Eyes to enjoy! I am also looking forward to seeing as many people as possible going ‘all out’ on their costumes – why not? The embarrassing bus ride is worth the fun at school!
To conclude, I hope everyone has a lovely, well deserved Christmas holiday. Make sure you check in on all your friends as this year will be a bit different, but remember to try to keep a positive outlook and enjoy the little things!
