Invicta Vlogs
Looking Back
As my time at school comes to an end, what better time to reflect upon everything Invicta has taught me. It has been an absolute whirlwind in the 5 years I have spent at Invicta and I look back on them so fondly. I have learnt so much more than how to do a titration or solve an equation; the most valuable lessons have been discovering things about myself and others. Invicta has given me so many opportunities to flourish - not only academically but also on a personal level; this is what I believe sets the school apart from others. I would like to take this opportunity to share what I have learnt:
Take every opportunity: At Invicta, we are so lucky to have so many great opportunities available to us. What stands out to me however, are the chances to travel! I have had the privilege to take part in so many incredible school trips including a World Challenge Expedition to Costa Rica and a Sports Leaders tour to Sri Lanka. Through experiencing these different cultures and meeting so many amazing people, I can say confidently that they changed me as a person and my outlook upon life. Given the current circumstances, understandably this is difficult at the moment. However, this is certainly something to look forward to everyone resuming.
Have aspirations: When I first joined Invicta in Year 9, I have no shame in saying I was not the most academically inclined to say the least! I think the change I have seen in myself over the years, really shows the impact a school like Invicta can have. I was taught that if you work hard, it will pay off and you can achieve any goal. I took this very literally and decided that I wanted to pursue a career in Medicine; I believe it was having this aspiration that motivated me to getting GCSE results I was so proud of, but also pushed me to expand my knowledge past the curriculum. I am by no means saying everyone needs to know exactly what they want to do in life whilst at school, but having goals, which can of course change, allows you to stay on track and push you to work hard towards that dream.
Be inspired by others: Our school is full of highly motivated and enthusiastic girls who are achieving great things; I have learnt that often some of the best advice can therefore come from other students. If you see others doing well, do not be afraid to ask them how they do it or how you can get involved! This could be from academics to great initiatives like TIDE.
Hopefully, you can take something away from this blog; to help you make even more from your time at Invicta. As this chapter of my life closes, I am so thankful to all the friends and teachers I have met through the years that have shaped me as a person and help make Invicta such an exceptional place to be!
