We have only eleven days to Christmas and just five days until we break up for the Christmas holiday. This is certainly cause for celebration! It is also fitting, that today, we welcome back our 2008 and 2010 cohorts to celebrate their A Level and GCSE results respectively at our annual Prize Giving. It is always lovely to see our students come back to share in the excitement and pride that is so visible when they receive their certificates. Not only do we enjoy the celebrations, but we relish the opportunity to hear all about the individual journeys from our A Level students since they left school; whether this be a gap year, employment or those first few months at university! We appreciate all the funny stories, but what we enjoy more are the conversations about how our Alumni’ miss school’ and ‘life was so easy’. The very special aspect of this, is the way in which individuals want to see particular teachers, who have undoubtedly had a strong influence on them. This bond is lovely to witness. In a similar vein, staff get a great ‘buzz’ when students write to give updates on their achievements. I am fortunate enough to get regular correspondence from a number of students; this always ‘brightens up my day’. It is what makes teaching such a special profession. Even better, is the fact that these great events are never singular! Last week, we witnessed over £5311.65 raised for our five charities in our RAG celebrations; we donated over 2000 cans and food items for the ‘You Can Help Appeal’; the Salvation Army collected a huge collection of Christmas gifts for 44 homeless families in Maidstone; we filled All Saint’s Church in Maidstone for a superb Carol Concert; we watched an amazing array of talented dancers in our RAG Dance Show and had fun in the ‘IGS Factor’! These are indeed, good reasons to celebrate. I strongly believe that the way in which we celebrate is what makes memories. So, I cannot wait to help create more memories today at our Prize Giving and hope that we can continue to do this as a key aspect of our education at Invicta. In the meantime, I do hope that everyone associated with Invicta enjoys their own celebrations of Christmas with friends and family – make it memorable!
