Becoming Head Girl
Whenever I think back to the moment, I received the news I was Head Girl, I cannot describe the excitement, shock and true happiness that I felt. The words ‘and our new Head Girl will be Lizzy Morgan’ still echo in my head and to this day, I still cannot quite believe how lucky I am to be in this position.
Becoming Head Girl has been extremely enjoyable and within the first few weeks of my new position, I already have so many people that I am thankful for. Firstly, the Senior Prefect Team- Dom, Charlotte, Amelia, Abby, Esther, Sian and Erin. After only a couple of school events, including the Year 5 Open Evening, I cannot express how proud I am of our whole team for how well we have worked together and how close we have become in such a short amount of time. I look forward to continuing to see how our team work develops at the New Entrants’ Evening and the Awards Evening in the upcoming weeks. I would also like to thank the previous Senior Prefect Team - especially Francesca and Joe who have made it especially easy for Dom and I to settle in to our new roles, supporting us throughout the transition process.
I began my application process what seems like a lifetime ago with a single A4 letter addressed to Mrs Derrick. After many hours of drafting and rewriting, I remember looking at the front of my planner and noticing the six qualities that Invicta base their ethos upon - individuality, enterprise, confidence, creativity, internationalism and excellence. Throughout my time at Invicta, I have developed each and every one of these traits and I seek to encourage others to do the same.
My legacy for Head Girl involves improving mental health throughout the school. I plan to do this by looking at three main areas - physical health, psychological health and social health. Especially at secondary school age, many girls in particular, struggle with self-belief and self-confidence - issues that I have personally gone through. Through my experiences, I hope to be a role model in showing how to deal with this and get the most out of your time at Invicta.
In the meantime, as this year draws to a close, I look forward to the challenges of the next academic year and getting to know students in the younger years.
