Multicultural Day
Last week, Invicta hosted our annual Multicultural Day featuring dance performances, musical ensembles and lots of cultural foods. Students were encouraged to wear clothing native to their ethnic backgrounds and participate in multicultural lessons and events throughout the day.
One of the highlights of the day was the multicultural show presented by the Invicta Multicultural Society. The event included a fashion show presenting clothing from over 20 countries where students across the school had the opportunity to show off their cultural clothing from various different countries including Sri Lanka, Bulgaria, France and Nigeria. There were also many cultural dances choreographed and performed by students throughout the school showcasing intricate dance moves and exhilarating music from Nepalese, Desi, African and Korean culture. Lastly, there was an outstanding finale from the Invicta Gospel Choir who performed Narakelemo, a traditional Yoruba hymn. The recital was incredibly moving and a perfect expression of the rich African culture present at Invicta.
