Where has the first week gone? I cannot believe that it has gone by so quickly.
However, I am thrilled to say that all our students have returned safely back to school after a summer with friends and family, along with travel far and wide. I am also very pleased to welcome our new Year 7’s – our 2021 cohort! They have settled into school life very well already. I have been extremely impressed with how they have found their way around the school, made new friends and taken on board the challenges of new subjects with excitement and smiles. I know that the rest of the school always keep a watchful eye on the girls to ensure that they are happy and it is with great pride that I see this as I walk around the school on a daily basis. Our Reception Area has been full of older students eagerly awaiting to meet the younger students and accompany them in their travels to and from school – well done girls!
I am delighted too, to welcome record numbers of new students to our 6th Form which is really exciting. Once again, the warm and friendly atmosphere exudes as you walk into the 6th Form lessons and Common Room – our students really are very special.
Our theme for the last week was the ‘Welcome Challenge’, and as such, I challenged everyone ‘to give something back’ daily to friends, family and peers. I hope that this is reflected in the approach of the girls both at school and home – perhaps you all received a novelty cup of tea when you returned home! Our theme for this week is ‘Responsibility’ and if last week is anything to go by, then our students will rise to the challenge, just in how they look after one another.
This week, we look forward to welcoming Year 7 parents to a Curriculum Evening on Monday, Year 12 parents to an Information Evening on Wednesday and the local community and parents to an Art, Fashion and Music Showcase on Saturday evening in aid of Heart of Kent Hospice – a busy week with lots to look forward to!
