Knife Angel Unveiling
On Tuesday, 6 September Mrs Giles represented the school at the unveiling of the Knife Angel, which is on national tour and currently on display in Maidstone.
The sculpture, made from over 100,000 seized blades, was specifically created to highlight the negative effects of violent behaviour and encourages us to consider what we can do to turn the tide on violent and aggressive behaviour. The sculpture also acts as an impressive memorial designed to celebrate lives lost, and changed, through violent and thoughtless actions.
Since its national tour began back in December 2018, the Knife Angel has visited 25 towns and cities all over the UK and it will remain in Maidstone throughout the month of September, before moving to Wrexham, the host city for October.
Students at Invicta will be taking part in the educational programme associated with the Knife Angel and we are looking forward to workshops, presentations, tours and the establishment of Anti-Violence Champions within our student body. It is vitally important to us to continue to educate our students about violence, and to gain the knowledge and skills to keep ourselves, our friends and families safe.
We would encourage families to visit the Knife Angel while it is here for the short September stay in Maidstone. You can visit the Knife Angel at the Lighthouse Christian Centre, St Faith’s Church, Station Road, Maidstone (just near Maidstone Museum).
