Year 12 Team Building Day
On Thursday last week, Year 12 took part in a day of team building taks and activities, Rithik in Nightingale 1 sent this report:
As a new student entering a completely new school there are a lot of daunting challenges to deal with, but the problem that seems the most prominent is finding who to talk to and where you fit in.
Luckily for us new Year 12s, nearly as soon as we joined we had a teambuilding day; a pretty self-explanatory experience in which every form joined together with the rest of their house mates to do a series of activities, revolving around a team based task.
For example my favourite activity of the day was laser tag which began with our house being split into two, then being pit against each other in a series of challenges. My personal favourite being the capture point activity we did, in which both teams had to shoot a small pillar, converting it to our team’s colour as it slowly filled up with light. At the beginning we all thought that we were playing for fun but by the end our real competitive nature came out and we genuinely started to cooperate.
I think overall the experience really helped me and many others build their circles and become more comfortable with their surroundings as well as the people that inhabit them.
Lily in Pankhurst 2 had this to say about the day:
'Last Thursday, the new Year 12 students participated in a team building day with their house. Each group rotated around a number of activities hosted by The Problem Solving Company. A popular favourite was the ‘Key Code’ challenge where subgroups competed to tap numbered spots in consecutive order over the shortest time. Despite the intermittent showers, ‘Laser Tag’ as well as the other outdoor activities also proved to be big successes. At the end of the day, Nightingale were declared victorious, having even completed ‘Escape’ the quickest, but more importantly everyone had made valuable memories with their new classmates as they started their A-Level journeys.'
