A Challenge Completed - Lydd Half Marathon
Mrs Rivers sent this report:
On Sunday, 12 March 2023, nine intrepid Invicta staff completed the challenge of the Lydd Half Marathon in memory of our former student Amanda Slann raising money for the Royal Marsden Hospital.
It was certainly a challenging run in Lydd where a bitter wind did blow across the countryside which made the final 3 miles especially demanding! However, we all finished the run successfully with some good times achieved and the biscuits were certainly gratefully received at the end!
Huge thanks to our colleagues, Mrs Dufton, Mr Rook, Mr Saputo, Dr Marchesini, Mrs Bailey, Miss Palin and Mrs McGivern for joining Mr Ehren and myself in fulfilling the challenge and raising lots of money for the Royal Marsden. We must particularly celebrate Miss Palin, Mrs McGivern and Mrs Bailey who were all first time half marathoners on the day!
We were proud to celebrate Amanda’s memory and know Amanda’s family have been particularly touched by our efforts. Amanda sadly passed away after a hard fought battle with leukemia eleven years ago and, those of us who worked with her, will always be proud to have known her.
Thank you to all parents and students who have supported us with kind words and donations. There is still time to donate via our Just Giving page.
