Year 9 - ‘Pieces of Us’ - Hazlitt Theatre
Kimaya and Poppy in 9N sent this report:
On Thursday, 9 March, Year 9 watched a production presented by the ‘BINT Theatre & Hazlitt Institute for Performing Arts’, called ‘Pieces Of Us’. The show portrayed real-life scenarios that people our age have experienced through several engaging, authentic, and praiseworthy acts.
Every performer gave their heart and soul to the performance, and it truly gave us a feel of how our mental health plays an extremely significant role in our lives.
Throughout the performance, there were moments of laughter as well as moments of empathy, but nonetheless, we all left feeling inspired.
We thought what we could all take away from the production is that it is totally normal to feel like an outsider and that there are other people who are in your situation: as long as we find what we enjoy wholeheartedly, we should embrace it without worrying what others say.
One student in our year said, ‘The overall production made really good points on mental wellbeing, and the idea of happiness not always meaning no problems.’ Another student said that ‘the performance had elements of relatability and the acting was really good’. We are very grateful for the opportunity to watch this production and a big thank you to everyone who organised it.
