Junior Law Hub Competition
Miss Griggs had this to say about the competition:
I wanted to say thank you and congratulations to those who participated in the Junior Law Hub Competition on Wednesday, 19 April. The students involved demonstrated great confidence and commitment throughout the preparation stages and the competition itself. Being provided with the key details, the students had to compose their own speeches, cross-examinations and closing arguments while ensuring all issues were covered and legal knowledge was applied accurately.
I am proud of the work the students produced, and I look forward to next year where we will be going head-to-head with other schools in an external competition. Although there was only one point in it, congratulations to the defence team who won the competition. A special mention to Sarah in 10C who continues to work tirelessly and effortlessly running both Junior and Senior Law Hub as a Year 10 student.
Isabella in 8V sent this report:
On Wednesday, 19 April I participated in the Law Hub competition. I participated as the defence lawyer for the defendant Jamie Rowe. We, as the defence, were against the prosecution team, who were trying to prove the defendant guilty. In our trial we were trying to prove that Jamie Rowe was not guilty for the charge of holding a weapon in a public place without a reasonable excuse. It all occurred at a party with Max Thomas and Ali Marrow as the prosecution witness against Jamie. The prosecution team did very well. In the end however it was the defence team who won by one point. The score was 72-73, so very close.
