Staff Profile - Mrs Oliver
Name: Mrs Oliver
Role: Head of Year 7
Subject: Chemistry (Science)
Favourite Book: I love reading and read every day so picking one favourite book is hard. One that has stuck with me because of the beautiful writing is Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks. I also love the style of Christopher Brookmyre novels, his clever, witty writing style is really engaging.
Favourite Film: I am a horror fan, so the whole Saw series.
Hobbies: Running, reading and spending time with my family.
Favourite Food: Crisps and Houmous
Favourite Holiday destination: I love to travel and when I lived in Dubai I was able to do it regularly. It was great to be able to travel East and I loved Singapore and Hong Kong.
If you did not work in a school what job would you like to do? In another life I would have loved to have been on a West End stage, Les Miserable is my favourite show.
What is the most challenging thing you have achieved? Being a parent is both wonderful and challenging. Having a baby during lockdown and not being able to see family and friends was probably the hardest thing I have had to do, but I must have done something right as I now have a very happy, healthy 3 year old. Adding a second child to the mix 2 years later definitely added to the challenge (and the fun!)
Why did you decide to work in education? I love chemistry and love working with people, so after a brief stint in Forensic Science it seemed like the perfect option for me. I have never regretted my choice to change careers and love being in the classroom.
How have you found your first term at Invicta? I have been so impressed with the whole Invicta community, everyone has been so welcoming. I am enjoying getting to know my classes and my year group and am gradually learning names, but there are a lot to learn!
