Staff Profile - Mr Reeves

Name:  Mr Reeves

Role:  Teacher

Subject:  Business and Finance (previously PE for 16 years too)

Favourite Book: To Kill a Mockingbird. An all-time classic.

Favourite Film:  The original Star Wars (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi). I love these films but not such a big fan of the newer ones although it’s incredible how the story was told and linked to the original films.

Hobbies:  Darts. I play to a reasonable level and occasionally come up against one of the pros. I play County for London and travel the country representing them. Sometimes you might find me on a live stream!

Cricket. I’m also a keen cricketer and play in the Kent league for Offham and support Surrey (please don’t hold that against me!).

Football. Big Leyton Orient fan. Up the O’s!! (please don’t hold that against me either!!).

Favourite Food:  Impossible to answer. I’ll try, and usually love anything.

Favourite Holiday destination:  I loved Australia and lived in Perth for a while so I’ll have to say Perth. It’s a beautiful city that isn’t too crowded with easy access to some great beaches.  The nightlife is great too!  If we consider more traditional family holidays I’d have to say Antalya in Turkey, but that’s mostly because my 7 year old loved it.

If you did not work in a school what job would you like to do? If I didn't work in a school, I’d probably have stayed in the sports and leisure industry where I worked before teaching. The working hours and roles are varied and you get to meet and speak with lots of different people.

What is the most challenging thing you have achieved? Living and working in Australia, I worked for a sports coaching company. Two things here were very challenging, one; teaching Aussie Rules Football to Australian children (very difficult being English) and two; expanding the football (or soccer as it’s known over there) program throughout Perth. Since I left, it’s become a huge franchise all over Australia and New Zealand so I’m proud to have started something special.

Why did you decide to work in education?  I was a sports coach first of all and then became a Teaching Assistant where I had my first experience in classrooms. I loved it for two years and from there I decided to train as a teacher in PE.

How have you found your first term at Invicta?  Loving it so far. The staff have been very welcoming and the students I teach are amazing.  I love finding out new things about them everyday.
