GCSE Prize Giving Evening
Mrs Skelton sent this report:
On Wednesday, 24 January we celebrated the achievements of our 2023 Year 11 cohort when they attended the GCSE Prize Giving event here at Invicta. It was a very positive occasion and was wonderful to see so many current Year 12 students and some students who had left us at the end of Year 11 attending.
Many excited conversations reminiscing about the last five years were had and Year 11 tutors got another chance to congratulate their tutor groups on their successes. There were several speeches through the evening with Dr Marchesini and Mr Ryder sharing their memories of Year 11’s journey over the last five years as well as a very heartfelt speech from Olivia in Colvin 2 and Anne in Austen 2 sharing their experiences and reminding all of the students of the different events and activities that they have been involved in and most importantly the friendships that they have made during their time at Invicta.
We were also privileged to have Jamie McAnsh as our guest speaker, who delivered an engaging talk on perseverance, resilience, and the power of embracing challenges.
The main part of the evening was getting to share the successes of the students who had been chosen by their subject teachers to receive prizes due to their commitment, engagement and enthusiasm for their subject.
We are so proud of all of our 2023 Year 11 cohort as they have proved already the impact that they can make and we have high hopes for the changes that they will bring in the coming years. The effort that goes into GCSE studies cannot be underestimated and that commitment is one that all students should be incredibly proud of. All the staff that attended were honoured to have the chance to congratulate all students and we wish them all the best for the next two years and look forward to celebrating their achievements with them again soon.
We would like to thank Eloise in Roddick 1 for providing the musical piece for the evening and both Olivia and Anne for their speeches and all the staff who helped to make the evening possible.
