Prefect Profile - Aylin, Nightingale 1
Name: Aylin
Role: Deputy Head Prefect
Subjects Studied: Politics, History, Economics, Psychology
Favourite Book: It’s so hard to choose but I’d have to say my favourite of all time is the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz – they’re the books that made me love reading in primary school.
Favourite Film: Instant Family – its such a heart-warming story and makes me laugh every time without fail.
Hobbies: Year 12 has been so busy but I try to find time to go on walks especially through Mote Park, make progress on my unread books and see my family and friends.
Favourite Food: It’s difficult to choose between Bulgarian and more ‘English’ meals but I’d have to say banitsa for Bulgarian or mac and cheese.
Favourite Holiday destination: I love going back to Bulgaria to see relatives and childhood friends but Greece and Turkey for some sun and beach come a close second!
What is the most challenging thing you have achieved so far? Perhaps it would be participating in the Mock Bar Trial competitions. Being a barrister in two of them meant I had to prepare multiple speeches and examinations for witnesses, which was a challenge within itself, however presenting them in front of a judge and qualified lawyers was even more nerve-racking. In the end, Invicta won all its cases coming 3rd and 2nd place in the last 2 years, so it was worth all the effort!
Why did you want to become a Prefect? My GCSE History teacher first suggested I think about it in Year 11 and since then I’ve always thought of it as a challenge I’d like to take on to push myself. I’m so happy to have been successful and I will try my best to be a helping hand in the Invicta community.
What are your plans when you leave Invicta? I am aiming to study law at university and hope to one day qualify as a lawyer.
And, finally, what special memories do you have of your time, so far, at Invicta? In now nearly 6 years, there have been many special memories some of them academic such as taking part in two Model UN conferences in Cambridge and Geneva, results day, which I accidentally overslept in Turkey and getting through GCSEs. However, some of them would be very non-academic like prom and spending time on Izatt Plaza in the sun with my friends.
