Last week, we hosted our 11+ Open Evening.
Last week, we hosted our 11+ Open Evening. This is naturally a big event for our whole team – one where we like to showcase our students, staff, learning environment and activities. It is indeed, a huge team effort too. One thing that struck me on the lead up to our evening, is the way in which our staff, students and parents all work together. They give time – something that I see as very special. Everything from staff thinking about activities and displays, to students excited to give our visitors a tour of the school or help them with classroom activities, to parents helping serve refreshments. But, it does not stop there, because we would not be able to host so many guests without the commitment of our parents giving up their time to bring their daughters back to school for the evening and then collect them later. Not only do I recognise this, but I really do appreciate it. Then, on Friday morning, I received a collection of really lovely e-mails from prospective parents, which once again, made me think about the fact that they had taken time to write to me, to congratulate us on the evening. This did not have to be done at all, but clearly parents felt that it was important and once again, it really is valued. To be able to provide such positive feedback to staff and students is lovely and it certainly makes us all feel proud.
The concept of ‘time’ is so interesting. Steve Jobs states, ‘My favourite things in life don't cost any money. It's really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time.’ I could not agree with Steve more. Time is extremely precious. He is also quoted to say ‘Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.’ It is for this reason that I appreciate the ‘time’ that is given by so many at Invicta. Without doubt, they will change and develop things. So, on this note, I hope that our students, staff and parents will embrace the need to give ‘time’ to our Careers Fair and our Newcomer’s Concert this week. Both of these events will undoubtedly change and develop things for those that take the ‘time’ to attend and reflect on the ‘present’ and ‘now’ but equally help them in the ‘future’.
