On Saturday, Mrs Lloyd and I embarked on our American university trip to Boston and New York with 17 Year 10 - 12 students.
Having queued at the Virgin desk for over an hour to check in, it occurred to me that good organisation is something that we often take for granted; yet when we experience dis-organisation, like we did - moving from desk to desk for another hour because of computer problems and errors in issuing boarding cards, followed by not labelling a couple of cases properly - we realise that without the systems and structures we have in place at Invicta, we would certainly not function! I was not only shocked and disappointed by our check-in experience, but I was also very proud that not one of our girls complained or got dis-gruntled. On the contrary, they chatted, laughed and showed complete respect. I then sat on the plane to see how on an eight hour flight, they were polite, appreciative and caring of one another. Once again, a proud moment!
On Sunday, we toured Boston by bus, by foot and by boat. It was an amazing day - lots of history, great food and without doubt, superb service! When a group of 19 arrives for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, we had nothing but smiles, warmth and great hospitality; an incredible contrast to our experience in the UK. Our girls have been so impressed with the enthusiasm of the people in Boston, and so am I! What I love about taking students on trips like this is that it opens up their eyes to so many things. We have thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the city and cannot wait until we see Harvard and MIT tomorrow. We have a busy week planned with what I hope will be memorable and thought provoking experiences for the girls. Thank you Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Rush for organising what has in two days been a great trip already and we still have 4 days to go! I cannot wait to share our new found knowledge with everyone!
