Quarantine Attitude
During this difficult time, it is understandable that many of us are disheartened at the prospect of not seeing our friends or missing out on school events, so I decided to take this opportunity to reflect upon the importance of maintaining a positive attitude throughout this pandemic.
It is very easy to find yourself in a downward spiral, despairing at how long you have to stay in your house but if your change your mind-set, then lockdown will become a lot easier. For example, seeing lockdown as an excellent opportunity to catch up on anything that you have not had the time to do whilst at school or even to try something new. Personally, I have started to draw, which is something I would never have dreamt of doing during a busy school week, as well as catching up on the pile of books from Christmas which were waiting to be read. My favourite book that I read was Roger Bannister’s autobiography and the story of being the first man to break the 4-minute mile.
Exercise is another vital component of daily life which can help you to stay in a good frame of mind. I have left my house every single day during lockdown – within government guidelines - for a dog walk or a run and the fresh air and exercise really helps me to concentrate when I sit back down to study. Social life can easily slip when we are not at school, so maintaining contact with friends and family is vital; that is why The Invicta Family Quiz Night is such an excellent idea and from the amount of teams who participated in the last one, I can tell lots of others think so too.
Finally, I just want to remind everyone to stay positive as much as possible and focus on the benefits of these trialling times, instead of dwelling on the negatives. I look forward to seeing you all when we get back to school!
