As I write this Blog, it is Sunday - International Day of Happiness. This made me think about a conversation I had with two Year 7 girls this week, when I asked ‘What do you like about Invicta?’ and they enthusiastically said ‘everything!’ This made me very happy! I know that when I reflect on what makes me happy, I would instantly list the following: My family, travelling, laughter, sunshine, and a glass of good red wine. But, I would be quick to list aspects of my work that make me happy too – the buzz of excitement around the school, student smiles, colleagues who talk enthusiastically about their students’ learning and development, proud parents and impressed visitors. To sum this up, it would be the satisfaction, success and enjoyment of others at school. So, I can certainly say that my work makes me happy and I absolutely love that. Just this week, we have had so much to celebrate with our achievements in the Maths Challenge, Netball and Spelling Bee competition, but we have also witnessed so many smiles, whilst our students have mixed with their French Exchange partners along with our primary visitors at both the Easter and Business and Enterprise workshops. This too, has made me very happy. This week, we will equally, be very happy to welcome some very important visitors to our school – our ‘new’ Year 7 cohort for September 2016. We will all be extremely pleased to see the excitement of the girls as we meet them on Wednesday. However, I am sure that if I were to ask our students and staff at this point of the term, they would all say that the thought of the Easter holidays makes them happy. I cannot disagree with them on this one. So, I shall use this opportunity to wish everyone a great holiday and a well-earned rest.
