Staff Profile - Miss Williams
Name: Miss R Williams
Role: Assistant Headteacher
Subject: Religious Studies
Favourite Book: I found this question really hard to answer, I love many different books and genres so picking a favourite is impossible! The last books I read and really enjoyed was ‘Humankind, a hopeful history’ by Rutger Bregman which is book about philosophy, psychology and history arguing that human nature isn’t selfish and that people are fundamentally good.
Favourite Film: I generally enjoy really colourful, musical films that offer pure escapism. My favourite is probably ‘Strictly Ballroom’, an early Baz Lurman film that is over the top and ridiculous and at the same time makes fun of the world of competitive dancing perfectly.
Hobbies: Growing up I did a lot of competitive Ballroom and Latin American dancing, something I would love to get back into. Nowadays my hobbies are sewing children’s clothes, baking and watching endless series of Ru Paul’s Drag Race.
Favourite Food: Dark chocolate.
Favourite Holiday destination: Anywhere not too hot! New Zealand was the most amazing place I have been lucky enough to visit.
If you did not work in a school what job would you like to do? I’m not sure what I would actually be doing but I would love to be working in musical theatre, my distinct lack of talent holds me back however!
What is the most challenging thing you have achieved? Raising my daughter who is 4 going on 14 and full of sass already.
Why did you decide to work in education? I always loved school and was really inspired by the amazing teachers I had. I think that Religious Studies is such a varied and interesting subject and I wanted to give the next generation the opportunity to think hard about the big questions of life and learn about the world’s great religions and philosophers.
How have you found your first term at Invicta? It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks but I have really enjoyed meeting so many lovely colleagues and students and looking forward to the rest of the year.
