Staff Profile - Mr Adams
Name: Mr. Adams
Role: Teacher
Subject: Teacher of English
Favourite Book: I’m torn between Patricia Highsmith’s The Talented Mr. Ripley or Susan Hill’s The Haunting of Hill House. Both are fantastic examples of their genres, but I think it has to be The Talented Mr. Ripley. Highsmith creates the perfect anti-hero, constantly switching between whether you want to be Tom Ripley or are you afraid of Tom Ripley, and makes you question yourself at every turn.
Favourite Film: The best genre of film without a shadow of a doubt would be musicals, so I’d have to go for the best movie musical. The correct answer is Grease 2, combining catchy songs, a fantastic main character in Stephanie, and the most iconic scene in film history, Cool Rider!
Hobbies: I love to keep active, whether this means playing sport, walking, or going to the gym.
Favourite Food: I’d be anti-Northern if I didn’t choose anything with gravy, but scrambled eggs and avocado on sourdough is life-changing.
Favourite Holiday destination: I’ve just got back from New York, which was an incredible experience. From admiring the skyline at the Empire State Building at night to being petrified walking the Brooklyn Bridge, I’ll remember every sight, taste, and sound of the city. I even took the pilgrimage to Cornelia Street.
If you did not work in a school what job would you like to do? If I wasn’t a teacher, I’d love to go back into education and complete a doctorate in Film Studies.
What is the most challenging thing you have achieved? I was, at one point, nationally ranked at Squash. Although, I was 26, 000th.
Why did you decide to work in education? I remember how my teachers helped and guided me.
How have you found your first term at Invicta? I’m not sure there has even been a moment to stop and think about it, but in a word, fantastic.
