Staff Profile - Ms Baudéan
Name: Ms Baudéan
Role: SENCo
Subject: My latest teaching role was in France where I taught English as a foreign language. I have taught Geography and Spanish previously, but I will always be a French teacher at heart. You will now find me in the SEND department.
Favourite Book: The Shadow of the wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafòn. It’s a story for book lovers, the tale of a young boy who, through the magic of a single book, finds a purpose greater than himself and a hero in a man he's never met. I love it so much that I have read it in English, in French and even attempted it in Spanish, its original language. That was VERY challenging.
Favourite Film: "Ne le dis à personne". It’s a French adaptation of Harlan Coben’s book “Tell no one”. I remember recording it on VHS when it was first on TV (yes, I am THAT old).
Hobbies: I cook and bake a lot, I read and sleep a lot, I run a bit and spending time with my family is my favourite thing ever.
Favourite Food: Anything cooked by mum.
Favourite Holiday destination: Anywhere where there's family. There are a lot of us, all round the world, and we are having an amazing time when we are together.
If you did not work in a school, what job would you like to do? I genuinely don’t know.
What is the most challenging thing you have achieved? I left France aged 25 to go on the other side of the world on my own, in a country where I didn't know anyone, nor speak the language. My dad, an army Major, always taught us that facing challenges and navigating through them builds resilience capacity. Knowing that you can overcome obstacles, learn from struggles and benefit from mistakes lays a solid foundation for success in later life.
Why did you decide to work in education? It doesn’t feel like working when you are having fun!
How have you found your first term at Invicta? I have taught there for 5 years and only left to go to a sabbatical in France for a year. Coming back is wonderful: I get to see familiar faces, much loved colleagues, and students again. I love the buzz we get from all the exciting opportunities provided by the school, and I am very pleased to be back.
