Geography Society - Clock House Farm Visit
Abi in Frank 1 sent this report:
On Wednesday, 5 October, the Geography Society visited Clock House Farm in Yalding – a local sustainable farm. Steven, our tour guide, welcomed us upon arrival and introduced us to their sustainability ethos of minimising their contribution to climate change.
We were shown around the farm’s operation systems, for example, their heat pump where they extracted water from the River Medway, retained its temperature and then returned the water. Also, we were guided around their inside farming system where we were lucky to see their beehives at work, pollinating the produce; they had been busy as we were showed their huge crates of raspberries ready to be delivered to Asda.
Despite the rain, it was all worth it when we each received a punnet of their sweet blackberries to eat on our journey back to school.
Thank you to all the staff at Clock House Farm for this fantastic tour, we all left with new valuable insights into sustainable food production and some delicious berries!
