Name: Mrs Bowles
Role: Teacher
Subject: Science
Favourite Book: Why love matters by Sue Gerhardt. This book is about the effect our early relationships have on our developing brain and the how these early interactions can have lasting consequences for our future emotional and physical health. I found it a fascinating read and it changed my view on the effect the environment has on our development.
Favourite Film: Million dollar baby – a film about a very determined woman and the close bond she builds with her trainer which has a profound impact on them both.
Hobbies: With two young children I have very little free time, but I do enjoy going for walks in the countryside, which I find relaxing and helps clear my mind. I also like playing netball and reading a good book.
Favourite Food: Mediterranean food and chips!
Favourite Holiday destination: It’s hard to choose as I have been fortunate to visit so many beautiful places. However, I have wonderful memories of holidays in Spain, where I have family.
If you did not work in a school what job would you like to do? Psychotherapist. Our mental health is so important, so if I did not work as a teacher I would want to help people to make positive changes in their lives to improve their emotional wellbeing.
What is the most challenging thing you have achieved? Completing a diploma in psychodynamic counselling, whilst working as a teacher and suffering with terrible morning sickness!
Why did you decide to work in education? I want to help young people achieve their goals and to support them as they develop into adults. I love my subject and I enjoy sharing my passion for learning.
How have you found your first term at Invicta? There has been a lot of new information and even more names to learn, but everyone has been very welcoming and supportive. I am enjoying getting to know my new classes and am very happy to be working here.
