The final week of Term 2 was a roller coaster of events but sitting quietly amongst them all was the arrival of our BookBuzz books for 2022. The annual scheme, offered by the Book Trust, aims to provide every 11 to 13-year-old with a book of their own. Our thanks go out to FIGS who, once again, kindly offered to fund the purchase of these books for all of our Year 7 and 8 students.
It was amazing for us to see the students’ reactions as they collected their chosen book in form time, and it is wonderful to already hear so much chatter emerging around the school about each other’s choices!
The benefits of regular reading are well-established and so the ability to provide our students with opportunities like this one are something we pride ourselves on as a school. As part of the scheme, our school library was also gifted two copies of each of the books so there is no need to worry about missing out on the other choices available.
On a personal note, I would like to extend my thanks again to FIGS who have given our students the chance to explore so many new worlds and stories through funding Bookbuzz in 2022 and to my library prefects and Duke of Edinburgh volunteers who have worked tirelessly to help sort and deliver over 550 books across the school during this week. Thank you again.
