Year 12 Fashion & Art Textiles Trip

On Friday, 3 March, the Year 12 Fashion and Art Textiles A-Level students visited the Saatchi Gallery and Victoria and Albert Museum in London as part of their wider research. 

Visiting the ‘Beyond the Streets’ exhibition in collaboration with Adidas at the Saatchi Gallery, students were fully emersed in street culture, from 90s Hip-Hop, to street art and style. 

After this awe-inspiring experience, students also visited the Africa Fashion exhibition at the V&A Museum, celebrating the vitality, creativity and accelerating global impact of African fashions. The exhibits are catalysts from which to tell layered stories about the richness and diversity of the continent’s myriad histories and cultures. 

Students will use their primary research to inform a printed fashion garment, using inspiration from both exhibitions as part of their second Year 12 project. 

This was an exciting and incredibly inspiring trip, and I look forward to seeing how the creativity we experienced will be reinvented through their own work.
