Staff Profile - Mr Bridges
Name: Mr Bridges
Role: Teacher of Economics and Enterprise Coordinator
Subject: Economics
Favourite Book: I really enjoy the Harry Potter series, having grown up with them as a child. I’ve read them all far too many times, but I always seem to go back to them for the nostalgia.
Favourite Film: My favourite film recently has been Spiderman: No Way Home. I’m a big Marvel fan anyway, but this film ticked all of the boxes, especially with the crossovers from previous Spiderman franchises.
Hobbies: I watch and enjoy playing football, as well as Ski, Wakeboard and Water-ski. Right now, I’m most active in terms of Canicross- as in cross country running harnessed to my Labrador. I also enjoy playing different board games with friends, probably my favourite is Scythe for the asymmetric nature and tactics involved.
Favourite Food: Lasagne
Favourite Holiday destination: my favourite place to have travelled is Banff in Canada, when we went skiing for Christmas for our honeymoon. We went dog sledding which was an amazing and surreal experience for us both. Other than that, I enjoy visiting the Algarve, in Portugal, for short breaks in the summer.
If you did not work in a school what job would you like to do? I’m not sure really, potentially the Police or Armed Forces, but I knew from a reasonably young age that I wanted to teach. I did apply for a degree apprenticeship with Network Rail into their engineering program but turned it down to go to university instead.
What is the most challenging thing you have achieved? Probably my degree, I found adapting to university learning a challenge and adapting to it took a while. Once I had worked it all out though, with some hard work, it all came good in the end.
Why did you decide to work in education? I enjoyed helping people at school with things I found easier and explaining concepts in different ways. I also enjoy the weekends and holidays!
How have you found your first term at Invicta? All been good so far, everyone has been very welcoming and helpful. Definitely looking forward to the rest of the year.
