Staff Profile - Miss Chambers
Name: Miss Chambers
Role: Music Teacher
Subject: Music
Favourite Book: I enjoyed the Artemis Fowl Books when I was younger and have taken to listening to crime or murder mystery audiobooks.
Favourite Film: My favourite film franchise is Pirates of the Caribbean, but I really enjoy listening to other film soundtracks such as the Last Samurai, Gladiator and Inception. I love a superhero film and enjoying rewatching Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Harry Potter films with friends to see who can quote the most!
Hobbies: When I am not involved in things like Choir and Orchestra, I am a Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba dancer, and I even teach on occasion. I love board games and gaming when I find the time, whether that be Skyrim, Assassin’s Creed or Dungeons and Dragons.
Favourite Food: Marshmallows. No, Sushi. No, Chocolate. No, Pesto. No, Houmous. I CAN’T DECIDE!!!
Favourite Holiday destination: I am very lucky to have been to some fantastic places on choir tours, including Malta, India, China and Hong Kong. I really enjoyed exploring lots of beautiful concert venues throughout Europe but I am still reeling from my trip to Scotland over the Summer, where I got engaged. No wonder so many composers and poets have written about the Mountains of the Highlands. They are GORGEOUS. My next trip is a mystery. Maybe the North Pole, maybe Iceland. Who knows?
If you did not work in a school what job would you like to do? I really enjoyed learning languages at school, so I might have looked into being a translator or interpreter. I am still very interested in learning more BSL and really enjoy singing in many different languages. But if that hadn’t panned out, I would have looked into Behavioural Psychology and Music Therapy.
Why did you decide to work in education? I fell into swimming teaching by the age of 16 and really loved helping people achieve their full potential. It was almost like a puzzle to observe people swim, work out what swimmers were doing and what they could do to be more streamlined, faster, or smoother in the water. I really enjoyed seeing how proud my students were of their achievements. After Music College, I started teaching singing and instrumental lessons and combined my love of music with teaching. A friend of mine said I might enjoy teaching classroom music. So, I went for it over 3 years ago and never looked back.
How have you found your first term at Invicta? It has been wonderful to get to know the students and staff at Invicta. I have really enjoyed getting to know my classes and the energy they bring each week. The school is full of extremely hardworking, expressive and talented individuals and I look forward to watching then grow and flourish into passionate and caring humans.
