Year 9 Art, Photography and Textiles Trip

Miss Brown sent this report:

Year 9 Art, Photography and Textiles students braved the wet and windy seaside for a location shoot on Hastings beach to take photographs for their projects, looking at textures, the unnoticeable and exploring close up photography.

After getting completely soaked, students had a couple of hours to explore Hastings Contemporary Art Gallery and study the works of Nengi Omuku: The Dance of People and the Natural World and Roland Hicks: The Fourth Wall.

The last destination of our trip was the Towner Eastbourne exploring the works of four shortlisted nominees for the Turner Prize 2023: Jesse Darling, Ghislaine Leung, Rory Pilgrim, and Barbara Walker. 

Finally, finishing up the day in the sunshine with a short art trail courtesy of Eastbourne Alive. Students and staff alike had a wonderful time, despite the weather’s determined efforts to foil our day, and we look forward to visiting again.
