If you did not work in a school what job would you like to do? I’d most probably be a working musician. But if I had the choice of anything – I’d be a Voiceover Artist.
What is the most challenging thing you have achieved? Being a working father. This is an ongoing challenge which I try my best to rise to daily.
Why did you decide to work in education? Performing Music has been great fun and very rewarding, but educating future musicians has a greater impact for me. Working with young people gives me the opportunity to talk about the subject I am most passionate about and impart the knowledge and skills I have acquired over many years.
Watching how children interact with my subject and seeing how they react to and demonstrate their musical understanding has also given me a deeper appreciation for Music and has probably brought me closer to it. Children never fail to surprise me with their unique way of looking at things and that innocence and naivety that they bring to the classroom is something that can be really thought-provoking to us as adults.
How have you found your first term at Invicta? Both the students and members of staff have been very welcoming and supportive. The department is very busy and always has something going on – it’s been a pleasure to be part of and I’m really looking forward to the year ahead.
