World School 2023 - Tokyo, Japan

Upon arriving in Tokyo, we were brought to our sister school in Japan, Kanto International Senior High School.
After receiving a warm welcome from students and staff, Avani, Jess, Mr Adams and I were presented with a mini tour around campus. Students had kindly decorated each classroom in preparation for us and had activities from trying different Japanese dishes, to teaching us Japanese calligraphy (shodō).
We ended the day by meeting our host families who we then lived with for the next three days. My host family were lovely and very accommodating.
After school, we would go sightseeing around Tokyo seeing places such as Shibuya centre and Meiji Jingu shrine. During the day at the High School, Avani, Jess and I performed presentations about the stereotypes, culture and history of the UK to other World School students, Kanto students, and prospective Kanto students and parents. Although initially intimidating, the presentations became something to look forward to as we received support from the friends we had made, and it was interesting to watch their presentations and learn about their cultures.
My favourite presentation was from the Indonesian students as they explained the history and cultural differences between the islands.
