Year 7 Harry Potter Studios Tour
Willow in 7V sent this report about the day:
Last Friday, Year 7 went on a trip to the Harry Potter Warner Brother Studios in London – linking perfectly to our magic theme topic in English. This was a brilliant, bonding experience for me and my friends as we all got to explore the studios together, going behind the scenes and adventuring into all the sets, props and features of the iconic Harry Potter films. At the beginning of the experience we got special VIP access to all the real life props and costumes of characters, then set out to explore the studios. Personally, my favourite bit was visiting the Forbidden Forest and encountering the visual effects throughout the whole set, as well as boarding the Hogwarts Express and visiting Pomona Sprout’s herbology greenhouse. From adventuring at the start into the Hogwarts Great Hall to actually seeing Hogwarts in a model, every second of this trip will be well remembered and treasured though our time at Invicta.
Imani in 7V had this to say about the workshop visit:
Throughout the day, students including myself explored many aspects of the production of the Harry Potter films franchise including props, performance, special effects and many more.
The different sessions gave valuable insight into how things work behind the scenes and really urged us all to think deeper about the process of filmmaking. These workshops revealed intricate details of the movie such as the meticulously planned aesthetics and colour themes. For example, Harry Potter himself is always dressed in the same colour palette and in clothes suited to that decade’s fashion.
Finally, after a fun-filled day we were educated on how screenplays and scripts were constructed with the chance to produce our very own.
On behalf of Year 7, we would like to thank the English department who have put together this amazing presentation and day of activities equivalent to experiencing Harry Potter world ourselves.
