Year 10 Spanish Exchange
Emily K and Emily F, both in 10G, sent this report:
At the end of last year, we were allocated partners to email from a school called IES Seritium, in Jerez de la Frontera (near Cádiz and Sevilla) in Spain. We got to know them online over the summer holidays and the first two terms of school. We then filled in a questionnaire about our likes and dislikes so we could be paired with the best suited partner. Then on Thursday, 1 February the exchange students arrived at Invicta after a 2-hour flight, and we spent the evening with them at our houses.
On Friday, they came into school with us to experience an average school day in England which, as we found out, is very different from Spain. They took part in our lessons before heading to the canteen to have fish and chips. Over the weekend our visitors spent time with their host families and visited many different parts of Kent; a group of the students went to Bluewater and many went to Leeds Castle, one student even got to go to Harry Potter Studios! The next three days were allocated trip days where our guests visited London, Canterbury and Maidstone. They managed to cover practically the whole of London in one day visiting Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square and even Hamleys Toy Shop. Finally, Thursday came all too quickly and the students spent half of the day with us in school until we said our goodbyes at the end of lunch, waving them off and wishing them a safe journey back to Seville.
This exchange was such an amazing experience and we loved getting to know all of the students who came over. We can’t wait to go back to Spain to see them all again in March!
