Year 10 Spanish Exchange - Jerez de la Frontera
Emily in 10G sent this report:
Last week we took part in the second part of the Spanish exchange to Jerez de la Frontera in Spain. It was a week full of sun, culture and, most importantly, new friendships. We started the trip by spending the weekend with our host families, with most of us visiting various beautiful beaches, I was lucky enough to go to three, and trying the local Spanish foods of an evening (some of the best food I have ever tried).
On the Monday we got to experience a normal school day taking part in the lessons, playing football at break and interacting with the other Spanish students. School was a very different experience with no lunch, only a small break for a snack, and the different lesson selections for students of either sciences or more humanity based subjects to study. Over the next three days we went on trips to three cities/towns.
On Tuesday we visited Seville, my favourite trip, where the temperature reached highs of 30 degrees! Seville was beautiful, historic cathedrals and palaces were embedded into the city making it an amazing cultural experience.
Then on the Wednesday we went to Cadiz, a pretty costal town, and on Thursday Jerez, the town we were staying in, where we wandered around the Alcazar (palace) and were lucky enough to be toured around the Bodega. Finally, Friday came all to soon and we went, with our partners, to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, the most famous horse school in Spain, and then came back to school to say our final sad goodbyes and, of course, dance the Macarena! I can surely say this exchange has been one of the best trips, a trip I will never forget where I have made memories and friendships for life.
