Prefect Profile - Louisa, Bronte 2
Name: Louisa
Role: Senior Prefect
Subjects Studied: Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry
Favourite Book: Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome. It was one of my favourite books growing up. I love adventure stories, especially with a bit of mystery!
Favourite Film: The original Mulan, she is such an inspiration!
Hobbies: I love music and it keeps me very busy! I am a proud member of many ensembles across the county, including the Kent Youth Jazz Orchestra, where I play the bass guitar, Kent Youth Wind Orchestra and Kent County Youth Orchestra, where I play the trombone. I also enjoy walking in the countryside with my dog.
Favourite Food: Greek food, especially olives!
Favourite Holiday destination: Island hopping in Scotland. I have visited a few of the 161 islands in Scotland, my favourites are Skye and Barra. There is something so peaceful about the small villages married with the breathtaking scenery. Also, the sandy beaches are beautiful, and my dog loves them!
What is the most challenging thing you have achieved so far? I climbed Ben Macdui (the 2nd tallest mountain in the UK) and Cairngorm in the same day. It was one of the most physically challenging things I’ve done but the views from the top were worth it! Public speaking has always made me a bit nervous but opportunities such as doing the speech at the open evening in year 7, debating competitions and the hustings assembly have helped me grow in confidence.
Why did you want to become a Prefect? My time at Invicta has been full of so many incredible opportunities which have pushed me outside of my comfort zone. As a prefect I want to champion these opportunities and encourage other students to put themselves out there and try new things.
What are your plans when you leave Invicta? My plans are to study Natural Sciences at university. I would love to work in something STEM related, perhaps a chemical engineer or maybe something to do with nuclear energy. However, I’m still not entirely sure what career I want to pursue, so I will see where the future takes me.
And, finally, what special memories do you have of your time, so far, at Invicta? The school concerts have been a massive part of my time at Invicta. Whilst a lot of hard work goes into them, there is also a lot of fun and laughter with friends. My highlight has to be playing in the bands for the productions!
