World School Days 5 and 6 - Kanto High School Festival
The World School students spent the whole weekend at Kanto School taking part in their annual school festival.
Each one of the 21 World school countries had set up their booths, in two rather cramped classrooms. In addition, every club at Kanto from horse-riding to calligraphy was represented along with performances and music. It was as if Invicta had hosted an event that combined the Clubs and Societies Fair, 11+ Open Evening, International Cultural Festival and the FIGS Autumn Fair. Even the canteen produced international food to link with the food and culture theme. Every single student in Kanto had a role. It was certainly very busy, talking to visitors about Invicta, traditional British foods and the royal family. Many Japanese visitors believed that every English people regularly had tea with the Queen! It was another opportunity to practice our Japanese.
Sunday was also the performance day. The UK students were a little nervous as they took to the stage dressed in Union Jack leggings and T-shirts. Congratulations to Katie-Louise who choreographed the dance mash up of famous British pop songs from Queen through One Direction and The Beatles. They received a great big cheer as the audience joined in waving Union Jacks. Special mention should be made of the Sri Lankan delegations Lion Dance and the USA’s song and dance mashup.
By the end of the day we were exhausted but had really enjoyed the experience. Some of us went home for dinner with the family while others were taken to Disney World or sightseeing and shopping.
