With the Half Term holiday over, we are ready to embark upon a term that is packed with different events to rapidly take us to the close of our academic year – Internal and External Examinations, Year 8 Activities Week, Year 7 Activity Days, Year 10 Reward Trips to Disney, Cinema Visits, Consultation Evenings, the Annual Summer Concert, Sports Day, the School Production, Year 11 and 13 Proms, Invicta Awards Evening and Welcome Events for our new Year 12 and Year 7 students too. This list is not exhaustive and is therefore indicative that there is a great deal to pack into only 6 weeks. As I reflect upon this, I am certainly looking forward to the events, but I cannot help but think it is hard to be positive when we have so recently, heard of such awful atrocities in both Manchester and London.
This week, our theme for the week is to ‘Stay Positive’. It goes without saying that, in these circumstances, it would be very hard to be positive. But, what I would advocate is the concept of ‘kindness’. There has never been a time where the world needs kindness so much. So, I am pleased to say that at Invicta, we will be encouraging our girls to get out there and do something that brings a smile to someone’s face. We will be asking all our students ‘What have you done lately to make someone smile?’ Let’s hope that in our small community, this will at least, make us appreciate what we have. I have no doubt that over the next six weeks, we will also see lots of smiles in this vast array of activities. I have even seen our girls smile as they walk into their examinations – confident that they will do their best. This, is of course, all we ask!
