As I write this Blog, we have already been back one full week!
As I write this Blog, we have already been back one full week! It has been a very busy, but extremely successful week, whereby all year groups have embarked upon new things: our Year 7 started their Welcome Month, Year 8 have got underway with the process of thinking about their GCSEs, Year 9 have had their first GCSE lessons in new courses such as Photography and Classical Civilisation, Year 10 have initiated the start of their GCSE consolidation, Year 11 have rapidly become aware of the completion of their GCSE courses with the 1 – 9 grading, Year 12 have embarked upon their A Level journey, whilst Year 13 have been very proactive in the organisation of their UCAS applications and of course, their final year of A Levels. All this in just one week! It has been wonderful, welcoming everyone back and seeing so many excited smiles. I really cannot be more pleased as to how well everyone has settle back into routines; particularly our Year 7 who really have taken to their new environment ‘like ducks to water’. I have a very good feeling about this year group – they have been so confident and so prepared!
There is no doubt that Hurricane Irma has made us realise the importance of preparation. People have had to brace themselves for a catastrophic weather event and yet, even with this, there have been tragic and devastating scenes for so many people to sadly witness. As we are all aware, ‘If you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail’. It may be a cliché, but it is a truism too. However, even with a great deal of preparation, Hurricane Irma has managed to create disaster which is both very sad and disturbing – for people, wildlife and the environment. Nevertheless, imagine, how things would have been without the preparation? With a big year of challenges ahead of us, we know that good preparation is key and it is something that we work hard on at Invicta; we have been lucky enough to witness this week, that good preparation does work because our Year 7 are so confident and settled, so quickly; whilst the rest of our year groups have happily embraced the start of their new year and subsequent challenges with confidence and verve. This makes me both very happy and extremely proud.
In the meantime, my thoughts are certainly with all the people affected by Hurricane Irma; as a school, we shall look at ways in which we can show our support with a strong fund raising initiative.
