Revision techniques and tips!

Dear All,
Exam season is upon us and I am sure many of you are in revision mode already. I took my GCSE exams nearly six years ago now, and I will be sitting my university final exams soon. I have picked up a number of tips over the years to help me revise and keep calm in revision season:
- Make a revision timetable. This timetable doesn’t have to be too specific, but as long as it maps out what subject and topic you plan to revise each day then it will keep you on the right track. It will also help you keep focused when you are feeling overwhelmed with notes.
- Before revising, make sure you have all your notes that you need to revise. If there are any blank spaces in your books and folders from missing a lesson, then ask your friends to borrow their notes. This will save the stress of realising you are missing some crucial notes close to the exam.
- Figure out how you revise best. Some people are visual learners, and revise through bubble maps and diagrams to help them remember key information. Other people can revise by reading over their class notes. There are so many different ways that you can revise for exams, so don’t use the same techniques as your friends if you find a different technique suits you better.
- Revise with friends. Often doing practice questions in a group of you will mean that everyone remembers a different piece of information, and everyone will approach the question differently. This is a good way of thinking differently about how you will answer the exam questions, and it will help to reinforce the information.
- Ask your teachers for help. If you are stuck on any part of your revision, your teacher will be happy to help. You should also make the most of revision sessions, as these can help you to structure answers and learn important exam techniques.
I hope that these tips will help you, and good luck for your GCSE and A-Level exams. This is a stressful time of year so reach out to friends and teachers if you need support.
