Welcome back and a Happy New Year to everyone. I do hope that the Christmas festivities provided lots of opportunity to be with friends and family. I honestly cannot believe that we have just welcomed in 2019!
The social side of the Christmas and New Year celebrations are indeed very special. I love cooking and looking back at certain points in our meals, when you see and hear the ‘buzz’ that is going around a table and enjoying the food you have prepared brings. A very special aspect for me, is the shared preparation too; when the family all work together to prepare the food to be enjoyed. It is the collaboration and ‘pitching in’ aspects of this that I love. My viewpoint, however, at this time of the year – in what are indeed long, dark days – is that we should embrace this even more. It will certainly help us get through January and February!
So, as we embark upon the Spring Term, I really do hope that our girls are looking forward to a period hard work, friendship and most importantly, creativity and collaboration! Events over the past year in America with the school shootings; Thailand, with the 12 school football players in the caves: dare I say ‘Brexit’? and more recently, the earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia, have reminded me of the solemn duty we have as parents and educators to do everything we can to teach our daughters about both fearlessness and tolerance and, above all, to encourage them to make the most of every opportunity life offers – enjoying life and others around us to the full! So, use January and February to continue to work together and share time with others. Please do look at our calendar of events and join us at school for this too.
Here’s to the opportunities of 2019 for all of us!
