Geneva - Day 3
It was a busy start to our final day in Geneva! The students went straight to their committees, after queueing through airport-style security with their suitcases. The students formally debated in their own assemblies until lunchtime and were given a surprise crisis situation to tackle – this year on the Yellow Vests Movement!
All attending teachers were granted an amazing opportunity to visit the United Nations library and museum and then received an inspiring lecture by the Director of the UNOG Library, Francesco Pisano. This focused on the 2030 Agenda and the important role students play in shaping the future of the world.
In the afternoon we attended the official closing ceremony, where the students were congratulated for their amazing performances, professionalism and insight into the world of Intellectual Property. This took place in the main WIPO Assembly Hall, allowing us to see and use all the impressive technology used by ambassadors from around the world.
The students have thoroughly enjoyed their experience, mingling with 700 students from 50 schools from 27 different countries and 5 continents. It has been an incredible opportunity to learn about a huge variety of cultures, people and places, from the United States, to Morocco, to New Zealand, Costa Rica, Australia and Rwanda, to name but a few. The high calibre and professionalism of all participants has been very impressive and the organisation of the event flawless. We sincerely thank our hosts, from WIPO and Ferney-Voltaire, to all staff, students, host families and UN staff for making our visit so wonderful.
