Invicta Vlogs

This week, Invicta hosted its annual Clubs and Societies Fair. The fair allows students and teachers of clubs and societies, of which there are a multitude to choose from, to recruit new members. The range of clubs varies from Beekeeping Club to Afro-Caribbean Society and Whole School Choir to Netball Club. While attending the fair, I was struck by the significant turnout from all year groups, as students enthusiastically signed up for clubs in order to try something new or supplement one of their existing interests. In addition, the completion of students’ POP decisions highlighted the wealth of opportunity students have to get involved in extra-curricular activities at Invicta - whether it be recreational or to gain experience and qualifications.
Ayn Rand, a Russian-American writer and philosopher said, “The ladder of success is best-climbed by stepping on the rungs of opportunity.” The opportunities offered to students make a major contribution to their collective and individual successes. During a student’s journey at Invicta, I hope that they benefit from the options they have available to them; thereby enhancing their self-development and providing opportunity to give back to others. Indeed, in talking to an ex-student on Friday afternoon, it was clear that it was the opportunities that she participated in throughout her time at Invicta, that had given her the depth of character to now embrace some incredible challenges – all of which, she was very proud. This was certainly attributed to the way in which Invicta had instilled the need to try new things, take risks and ‘have a go’!
As the Leadership Fair takes place next week, I look forward to seeing how the leadership opportunities at Invicta shapes each year group even further.
