Soccer Aid 2022
Angel in Colvin 2 sent this report:
Soccer Aid 2022 was held during lunch on Wednesday, 7 December to kick off this year’s RAG Week. The whole school, including students and staff headed up to the 3G pitch to watch the game between a team of Sixth Form students, led by Mo in Year 12, and a team of teachers led by Mr Waters - both teams had spent weeks in training developing their stamina and skills to prepare for the big day.
At 14:00, the team captains shook hands, the players took the knee and the match kicked off with a roar from the crowd. At first, the teachers team looked menacing as they brushed passed the students' defence and made some convincing shots to score a few goals.
Luckily, the students' goalkeeper was able to stop them from scoring a few times and the students scored a goal of their own leaving the score at 3-1 to the teachers at half time. After a short break, the game was back on with both teams making a few substitutions and changing the original line up which injected some pace into the game from both sides. Again, the teachers were able to send a few shots past the students' goalkeeper (including an own goal) whilst the students team couldn’t quite score any points of their own.
The final whistle blew and the game was over with the teachers securing a firm 5-1 victory over the students - a huge thank you goes out to all the students and teachers involved in planning, playing and organising the day as well as the enthusiastic audience for all their support, we are sure to have raised a generous amount for charity.
