If you did not work in a school what job would you like to do? When I was younger I was debating either going into teaching or going into the police force so therefore if I wasn’t a teacher I would probably be a police officer perhaps looking to go into the detective scheme.
What is the most challenging thing you have achieved? The most challenging thing I have achieved so far has probably been completing my teacher training year where I had to complete two school placements teaching a range of abilities and ages and adapting my lesson plans appropriately to suit the needs of the class. This period of time was highly rewarding however definitely a difficult time having to learn the best ways of teaching and building a rapport with students as well as lots of time spent on lesson planning. Another challenging time in my life was when I was younger having to balance my studies at school alongside competing for Kent and the South East in hockey. It was challenging trying to balance the time spent at home, completing homework, training and competing, however I found it hugely rewarding and manage to complete both to a high standard.
Why did you decide to work in education? I mainly found my inspiration for teaching from my previous PE teachers who I aways found helped me massively through my years at school and appeared to enjoy what they were teaching. I also want to inspire the next generation of physically literate performers who want to take part in physical activity after school and into adulthood.
How have you found your first term at Invicta? I was nervous, excited and a little apprehensive to begin with, but staff and students were all so welcoming so I soon started to relax and settle in to teaching both practical and theory lessons as well as being a form tutor.
