German Exchange Student
Lucy in 9C sent this report:
During the past few weeks my family and I have been hosting an exchange student from Germany. We’ve taken her to many interesting paces, introducing her to our culture.
Firstly, we took her to Bluewater, the largest shopping centre nearby. Alina explained to me that they have similar places in Germany so the experience wasn’t too out of the ordinary. At the weekends, we went to the cinema and played Mario Kart often. Alina’s English is extremely advanced, meaning she easily understood the film. The following Sunday we also went to a goat sanctuary where we both enjoyed playing with and feeding the goats.
Alina and I were very lucky to experience the King’s Coronation during her stay and we watched the crowning on TV, later going to a house party with some of my family and friends. Of course, we also took Alina to London to visit Buckingham Palace. The luck continued as, when we arrived, we aso got to see the changing of the guard!
Alina came to school with me everyday during her stay and I learnt that they don’t have school uniforms in Germany! .
We introduced Alina to English cuisine, including fish and chips, roast dinner and shepherd’s pie. Whilst visiting our French friends we also enjoyed raclette, which Alina said she’s also had in Germany.
There have been many great opportunities for education both for Alina and me. It has been a great experience which I would highly recommend.
