FIGS Autumn Fair 2023
Mrs Howard sent this report:
On Saturday, 30 September, we held our annual FIGS Autumn Fair, in glorious sunshine! Year 8 and Year 9 students had worked incredibly hard in the build-up, ensuring this event was a great success. Each form group had to come up with an idea for a stall then work together on a project called “Make your £20 grow” by showcasing this product or service at our school fair.
We had some very innovative ideas this year, as well as some of the old favourites such as soak the teacher, guess the teacher from the baby photo and a chocolate tombola. The opportunities to be pampered were plenty with a hair salon, glitter tattoos and henna tattoos. You could even have your new look captured at the photo booth and your framed photo delivered to your class!
There were also opportunities to practice your sporting skills with throwing ping-pong balls into cups or rolling a ball into zones for prizes (these were incredibly addictive!) Many made the most of the opportunity to have a personalised bracelet made; these were ideal gifts, so expect to see a few in stockings this year. The cake-pops were very popular, as were the hot dogs cakes and doughnuts sold by FIGS.
The atmosphere was given a further boost with live music from our House Band and a dance performance from Stagecoach Performing Arts School.
FIGS committee members now have the very difficult task of choosing the winners! There will be one prize for the form group that made their £20 grow the most and another for the most innovative idea. Watch this space!
This event was made possible by the hard work of the students, their form tutors and of course our dedicated Parents' Association, FIGS. Everyone had a wonderful time and over £2,000 was raised for future school projects.
