World School Arrived in Japan
After months of preparation and an eleven and a half hour flight, the World School 2016 Delegates have finally arrived in Japan. Evie, Michalina, Katie-Louise and Mrs Brewster were met at Narita Airport in Toyko, by the welcoming committee from Kanto International School. After a quick lunch and a tour of the airport shops, while they waited for the delegations from Finland, Korea, France and India to arrive, they set off on the two hour coach ride to Katsuura.
Mrs Brewster said “The group of students waiting for us a Katsuura was over whelming. Everyone was waving and shouting words of welcome. Students held up the national flags of the arriving groups which made us feel very much at home. I was able to catch up with old friends of Invicta including Mr Daryoosh Matsudaira, the World School Director and Mr Takko, who had visited Invicta in 2015, with a group of Kanto students. It was also an opportunity to meet up with friends from World School 2014, which had been held in Russia; Ms Nadya Budianskaia, Ms Muazzez Olmez and Mr Hirao”.
The group are looking forward to the first day of the forum, which will include the opening ceremony, keynote speeches and the first country seminar presentations.
Katsuura Campus is owned by Kanto School and will the main base for World School 2016. Later in the week, the group will take part in a home stay in Tokyo, perform in the International Festival at Kanto, visit local schools and a soy sauce factory!
