Invicta Vlogs
This week, our theme is ‘Get Involved’.
This week, our theme is ‘Get Involved’. We have always said that Invicta is about so much more than examination results. I know that when you read both Invicta Voice – the termly magazine, and Invicta News – the weekly newsletter, you see such strong evidence of our students being involved in so many activities. But, for me, the notion of ‘getting involved’ is not just about balancing academia with opportunity. It is about ‘working with others’ and learning from that. We all know that in the ‘world of work’ we need to be able to relate to others, learn from others and lead others. It is exactly this, that I want to promote at Invicta. I am always really proud of the fact that when our ex-students return to see us, they relay so many stories of the events, trips and activities they were involved in, but they always, very affectionately talk about the way in which they embraced ‘working with friends’ and ‘making new friends’. For me, it is seeing how students, as they grow up, begin to embrace ‘leading friends’ and ‘establishing friends’. So, as we embark upon our theme, and explore the wonderful opportunities provided by the Debating Competition, Student Voice, Burns’ Night and of course, another Familiarisation Workshop for our primary students, I have no doubt that we will have plenty of students not only ‘getting involved’ but also developing wonderful skills by ‘working with others’. This is what ‘education’ at Invicta really is about!
