I am sure that you will have joined me in feeling a little ‘shell shocked’ on our return to school last week – colder mornings, early alarm clocks and the need to plan our diaries once again! I had staff, students and parents mention to me that it was a sharp contrast to the rather relaxed holiday that I hope we all had.
However, I am thrilled to say that all our students have returned safely back to school after a summer with friends and family, along with travel far and wide; although we all found the first day a little tough, we were actually very pleased to ‘get back into the swing of things’.
When I asked students in assembly, how many of them were wearing new shoes, new uniform, or holding new bags and pencil cases, it was clear that, actually this is an exciting part of our return to school. I too, love my visit to WH Smiths to purchase my stationery for the start of the academic year; all our girls are the same too. However, what has been really apparent, is that we all take a great pride in ensuring that not only are we prepared for the new term, but that we are proud of our new shoes, new uniform and subsequent new challenges.
I was extremely pleased and proud to welcome our new Year 7’s – our 2022 cohort! That sounds scary I know! Not only did they look stunning in their new uniforms, as indeed the whole of our school, they walked in beaming with great smiles and enthusiasm. They have settled into school life so quickly. My PA and Receptionist both commented on how it had felt that the girls had been in the school for two months – not two days! The way in which our Year 7 are familiar with their environment, quite a few of their teachers and some of their routines already is a credit to our Transition Programme. It really has been a joy to see the girls as they move around the school with such confidence and zest.
I am delighted too, to welcome record numbers of new students to our 6th Form which is really exciting – we have a large number of students about to embark on a special journey as they start their education at Invicta. It will, I promise be one that they will not forget for all the right reasons!
